The following are my visual interpretations of the word, “感动” (Pronounced as găndòng in Mandarin, and kando in Japanese) which means ‘to move or to touch the heart’.
The objective of this mini project is to visualize the moment of “感动” into conceptual minimalist artworks.
It is a moment of kando when listening to music can be rewarding as it elicits positivity and promote peace at personal and emotional level. Music acts as an invisible helping hand that frees a person from spiritual confinement.
The First Heartbeat
It is overwhelming and uplifting when we get to listen to the first heartbeat of a new unborn life. The idea is to encourage people to appreciate hearing, because the sound we hear every day can also be as precious as the moment we listen to the first heartbeat. Life is dear.
Cycle of Time
Spending time with family is the simplest way of expressing kando. Even though, it is something very common, but yet, many have neglected its importance because of their busy work. The idea is to show the passing of time using hourglass and reflection of a family of three – parents and child in the past, present and future. When the hourglass is turned over, the cycle will be repeated from generation to generation within a family.
The graphic shows a combination of the sign of the heartbeat and two persons riding on a same bike in the darkness, symbolizing the power of two when facing hardship.
Mother Earth, Father Sky
An appreciation for the awe-inspiring beauty of mother nature.
